Man returns book overdue since 1960 - CNN.com

You know, most libraries stop charging late fees at some point, so he really shouldn't have had to pay $171.32.

I'm pretty sure it goes to the library, if only because most fines are pretty small. Though ours go directly to the school (and are usually collected by the business office). I think that's standard for academic libraries, but public libraries handle their own.
