ESPN.com - NCF - Report: Bush, family received $100,000 in benefits
It's possible that USC could get stripped of its 2004 national championship because of this. If that's so, then the #2 team would get the title. And that #2 team was... Auburn.

More interesting is that it was yahoo sports that investigated the story, not a ink stained gum shoed Kolchak clone
If Bush is retroactively declared ineligible, USC will probably have to retroactively forfeit the Orange Bowl, which was the 2004 BCS championship game. This would mean that the 2004 national champion in the coaches poll would be Oklahoma.
I am not sure what the AP would do. Remember, Oklahoma had a much tougher bowl opponenet than Auburn. Auburn played in the Sugar Bowl against Virginia Tech, which was not even a top-five team.
It would be difficult to argue that Auburn should be awarded the 2004 National Championship because they never played Oklahoma, and who is to say that Auburn would have fared any better against USC?
