A couple of minor quibbles

Iraq invasion popular with many in state

1. "Popular" is a statement of group feeling. Something can not be "popular with many", which is either redundant or nonsensical, take your pick. The proper headline is "Iraq invasion popular in state", though that's an exaggeration since only 55 percent said the invasion was right.

2. Since Iraq had nothing to do with 9-11, tying the Iraq invasion to 9-11 is just carrying the Administration's water as usual.

The majority of Alabamians seem disappointed when the nation isn't at war. They get antsy in peace time as if they think, "There's an enemy out there somewhere and we're NOT fighting them." I blame it on fundamentalism.

The question with which 55% of responders agreed was ""Looking back, do you think the United States did the right thing in taking military action against Iraq, or should the U.S. have stayed out?".

There are many issues regarding the conduct of "Operation Iraqi Freedom" that are not addressed by the question. And in fact, slightly less than half of those surveyed answered positively with the follow-up, "Do you approve or disapprove of the way George W. Bush is handling the situation with Iraq?"
