Last year, Deiss watched gloomily from the observer seats, sandwiched between the Vatican and Palestinian delegations, as other ministers took to the stage to condemn terrorism. From now on, Switzerland will occupy a more permanent place -- between Sweden and Syria, according to the U.N. alphabetic list.

Let's face it, if you were sitting between a potential suicide bomber and a potential rapist, you'd be glum too. But it's a big ol' anti-Semitic family reunion in the high S's!
