Greene County students boycott classes
Nearly two-thirds sit out while parents protest school finances
The parents are evidently products of the Greene County school system. By holding their children out of school, they are (naturally) lowering the attendance. Which will lower the amount they get from the state, which is based on the first 40 days' attendance. Just the absences on Monday will cost the system $24,500 -- or roughly half a teacher.
