Emus eat feed, fruit and insects

"Dad, it followed me home, can we keep it?"

"Son, that's an ostrich."

"No, Dad, I think it's an emu. Can we keep it?"

"Well, if it doesn't scare the chickens."

William Gates (his real name) of Silverhill and his son were feeding their chickens when an emu just wandered up and joined them. Gates says if nobody claims her he'll keep her. And that he'd wanted to raise emus 20 years ago but didn't have the space then.
