Snakehead Fish Were Dumped Into Pond, Officials Say (washingtonpost.com)

It turns out that some guy dumped the Dreaded Chinese Snakeheaded Walking Fish of Maryland into the pond in which they've been caught. (They "got too big for the aquarium".) Of course, it turned out one was male and one female, and voila, ecological crisis. And the statute of limitations has expired (it was two years) so no punishment is forthcoming. It seems to me that this particular SoL is perfectly designed so that by the time we find out a foreign species has established itself nobody can be punished.
