Scientist questions skull theory

French scientists think that the skull whose discovery was announced the other day is not a primitive hominid but an ancestral female gorilla. (I could make a joke here about Frenchwomen's toiletry habits but I will demur.) I have no opinion here, since they all know a lot better than I. I do find it interesting that either the French doesn't have different words for "ape" and "monkey" or this article's translation is faulty.
