Suburban Britain roused in defence of 5,000 hedgehogs

The Brits love hedgehogs. The Scottish government wants to kill off the hedgehogs of the Outer Hebrides to protect the birds living there. Animal rights enthusiasts want to capture them and move them to England to hunt slugs. (Really.)

"We have an army of volunteers willing to travel to the islands to pick up the animals and transport them back to the mainland," Les Stocker of St Tiggywinkles said.
