GOP officials: Rumsfeld stepping down - CNN.com
If I were George Allen or Conrad Burns -- well, then I'd be an idiot, but anyway -- if I were them, I would be pissed off beyond belief that he couldn't have stepped down two weeks ago and saved my job in the process.
UPDATE: Robert Gates to replace him. There had been some Lieberman speculation but Connecticut voters would have revolted if that happened.

I read that Bush claimed the decision had been made before the election results came in. Is *anybody* dumb enough to believe that?
Also heard that Bush melted down today during a press conference. True?
I heard a bit on the radio coming back from lunch. It sounded like normal Bush to me, but then I think he always sounds unhinged.
I would absolutely *LOVE* to hear some AM talk radio today. Limbaugh may well have a seizure live on the air today!
Yeah, I would have revolted too. Connecticut's Governor is a Republican and she would appoint the replacement.
I plan on watching Bill O'Reilly. It should be fun.
