Great Moments in Misleading Headline Writing

USATODAY.com - Court: Net posting not considered libel

That's not what the court said, and what it said is more important; that lawsuits for libel on internet postings must be filed in the state where they were posted. A scholar living in Alabama had sued over statements made by a Minnesota woman, and won a declaratory judgment here when the Minnesotan said Alabama didn't have jurisdiction. The Minnesota Supreme Court agrees.

I am not an attorney, of course, but that seems like the proper ruling. Not that people don't go venue shopping all the time, but if I say something in Alabama about someone in Minnesota (to turn the case on its head) it doesn't seem right that he can sue me in Minnesota. I've never even been to Minnesota.
